The Blue Clinic's therapy approach is primarily psychodynamic with an emphasis on the therapist patient relationship. However, we also incorporate Cognitive Behavior therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness as indicated in treatment and these are the central modalities used in the skill building classes. Please find a brief description of each approach below.
Psychodynamic therapy focuses on the unconscious processes that dictate behavior and personality patterns. As such, emphasis is placed on early experiences, relationships, familial interactions and how these impact current relationship patterns and symptoms.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focuses on the relationships between thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and the body. It centers on learning how these facets of one's self interact so the individual can consciously manage symptoms.
Mindfulness addresses one's capacity for awareness in the present moment while allowing emotions to come and go free of judgement.
